The Native American Services (NAS) Program at YBGR supports Native American youth as they transition from residential care back to their families and communities. Led by a full-time NAS Coordinator, the program provides service coordination, therapeutic support, and cultural opportunities to help youth succeed at home, in school, and in the community. The NAS Coordinator also travels to reservations to build relationships with key leaders and staff and offers guidance and education to YBGR staff. Youth participate in cultural activities, including Mustang Nation meetings and weekly smudging, while staff receive training on Native American history and cultural competencies to better understand and respond to the unique challenges these youth face. The program’s goal is to ensure high-risk Native American youth have the support, cultural connection, and awareness needed to thrive.
