Over the past three years, YBGR has focused on improving campus safety in response to rising concerns about violence both nationally and locally in Yellowstone County. Many campus buildings, some over 50 years old, still had original doors and hardware, highlighting the need for critical security upgrades. Phase One strengthened security in key academic and recreational buildings, while Phase Two, funded by FEMA in 2023, enhanced the administration building, chapel, and clinic. Phase Three, currently underway, will upgrade the remaining 17 buildings on campus, including residential lodges and spaces for creative and experiential programming, ensuring a safer environment for all youth and staff.
