Destiny’s Woodshop Journey

Destiny Discovers Confidence Through Woodshop

At Yellowstone Academy, growth often begins with a simple project and someone who believes in a student’s ability to succeed.

For Destiny, that opportunity came in Mr. Sipes’ woodshop class, where she learned how to use a wood burning pen while completing her finished push stick. Before beginning her final design, Destiny lightly sketched her idea in pencil, then learned from a classmate how to handle the wood burning pen safely.

She practiced different lines on a scrap piece of wood before carefully starting her final design. Each step required patience, focus, and trust in herself.

When Destiny finished, she leaned back with a proud smile. The project had become more than a classroom assignment. It was proof of her hard work and a reminder of what she could accomplish when given the right support.

Mr. Sipes was there with steady encouragement, reminding Destiny that he believes in her and that he never gives up on his students. That kind of relationship is at the heart of the woodshop experience at Yellowstone Academy.

Through hands on learning, students like Destiny build practical skills, self confidence, and a sense of pride that can carry far beyond the classroom.

Yellowstone Foundation is proud to support opportunities that help youth discover their strengths, build confidence, and prepare for the future.
