A Skill Learned, A Future Rebuilt
When Matthew arrived at Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, he carried anger that had often shown up at home through damaged walls and broken trust.
Instead of judgment, he found someone willing to teach.
Tim Gilge, a Maintenance Technician at the Ranch, saw an opportunity to help Matthew learn a practical skill while also supporting his healing. Step by step, Tim taught him how to repair drywall. Together, they worked through wall preparation, patching, mudding, sanding, texturing, priming, and painting.
What began as a lesson in home repair became something much deeper. Matthew learned patience, responsibility, and the value of restoring what had been damaged.
Thanks to donor support, Matthew now has the tools and supplies needed to continue those repairs at home. More importantly, he has a new way to rebuild trust with his mom and siblings, one day at a time.
Matthew and Tim formed a connection that both will remember. Their story is a reminder that impact often happens through simple acts of care, steady guidance, and the belief that a young person is capable of change.
Yellowstone Foundation is proud to support the programs, resources, and people who help make moments like this possible.
