What's New

UNCOMMON

June 10, 2024

This spring, the Ranch’s Pheasant Program welcomed 1,000 pheasant chicks! Youth have been incubating over 1,700 eggs, and by summer’s end, they’ll help raise over 4,000 pheasants, 1,000 chukars, and 1 surprise chicken who arrived in one of the boxes of pheasant chicks! Meet “Uncommon,” the unexpected chicken who’s charmed everyone with its unique presence and reminds us all that being different is something to celebrate!

May 28, 2024

Congratulations to the Yellowstone Academy Class of 2024!  YA graduated six students on Friday and we couldn’t be more proud of their hard work and achievements!  Congratulations to ALL graduates this weekend! Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have paid off. Go out there and make your mark on the world!

UC ROOF

May 16, 2024

A Dry and Bright Future Thanks to You!  The pitter-patter of spring rains no longer means buckets and trouble at YBGR’s Uihlein Recreation Center, thanks to YOU, our amazing supporters! The new roof is on, and the sounds of rain are now a soothing melody, not a call to action for buckets. The kids can now play, grow, and thrive, rain or shine, in a safe and dry environment. It’s more than a roof; it’s the shelter of hope, made possible by the generosity of our community. A heartfelt thanks to the Dean & Connie Studer Donor Advised Fund, Alice Lee Lund Charitable Trust, Sigma DG Corporation, Gertrude Kamps Memorial Foundation, Darlene & Marvin Hartze, First Interstate Bank, and Phillips 66 for leading the charge!

Join these incredible supporters in building a brighter future for our youth. Every act of kindness creates a ripple of change!

BRANDING

May 14, 2024

Work crews out at the Ranch spent time branding several week ago.  The kids and staff had a blast learning how to doctor and keep the herd safe.  As Gary Adams’, Ranch Manager, explained it, “We are marking them with a return address is case they get out, the neighbors will know where they belong and bring them home”

BILLINGS OUTLAWS

May 10, 2024

Kids in YBGR’s residential treatment facility got to spend time recently with players from the Billings Outlaws, arena football team.
YBGR youth gathered at the Uihlein Rec Center, doing a few warm up drills, running some routes, and then playing lightening with the Outlaws. After the activities, everyone spent some time in the rec room where the kids could ask questions and play ping pong or pool with the players.

According to Center Director Lisa Frazier, the Outlaws really enjoyed their time with the kids, and some even talked about their own struggles with mental health. Several of the youth where then able to attend an Outlaws game later in the week.

GARDENING

May 6, 2024

Spring has sprung at YBGR and Yellowstone Academy, and students are embracing the season in the JJ Wadsworth Life Skills Classroom!
From gardening to exploring the plant life cycle, they’re diving deep into horticulture. Soon, their seedlings will thrive in the Herbert J. Poetzl Greenhouse, where their learning will blossom even further!

There’s something truly therapeutic about gardening.

KE CONSTRUCTION SPONSORSHIP

May 6, 2024

We are thrilled to announce KE Construction as the newest Adopt-a-Lodge Sponsor of the YBGR Hanscom Vo-Tech Building!
KEC’s passion for the trades, which youth learn through classes and work crews at the Ranch, makes their sponsorship especially fitting. We believe in empowering future generations with hands-on skills and opportunities.

Together, let’s build a brighter future!

NEW WHEELS

May 3, 2024

Thanks to Missoula Chevrolet & an anonymous donor, Ranch Manager Gary Adams picked up a new set of wheels for the Vo-Ag program last week from Janelle Morehouse. 🗝️ Gary will be putting thousands of miles on the truck delivering heifers and picking up calves for the Homes for Heifers program.

🐄 Your support drives our success!

COZY QUILTS

April 25, 2024

Warm hearts and hands at work!  Huge thanks to the Lutheran Love Room Quilters-Serenity, Taizah, and Sandra from Scobey, MT – for delivering seven bags of cozy quilts to Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch for youth in the residential treatment program.

Yellowstone Foundation staffer Kristi Farver Oaks then took the young ladies and their advisor Connie Wittak on a tour of the Ranch. Join us in celebrating their kindness!

YBGR VOLLEYBALL TEAM

April 25, 2024

From 33 hopefuls to a powerful squad of 10!  The YBGR Mustang’s season wasn’t just about the scoreboard – it was about growth, resilience, and pushing limits.

Despite ups and downs, the coaches saw incredible transformations like one of the players who faced a moment of doubt after a few missed points. But instead of subbing her out as she requested, they encouraged her to stay in the game. And guess what? She stepped up and delivered the game-winning ace!

Cheers to the YBGR Volleyball team for embracing challenges and unleashing their potential!
